Synopsis

A special feature, not to say exceptional, has been drawn in the Latin American context for a few years where it has been cataloged that citizen security is among the main negative aspects. A phenomenon that has not completely disappeared due to policies that have been, if not inaccurate, have mostly led to the proliferation of violence among other forms of insecurity, which certainly continues to be a notable problem not only for the context but for the hemisphere. as a whole. For global opinion, Latin America stands out for not having an effective security system, partly due to the negligence of a state that has failed to confront the fearsome scourge of social insecurity. which constitutes a serious problem due to the levels of anxiety that it is creating in the population, apart from the sociocultural and political phenomena that it brings with it.
The phenomenon of violence in Latin America, one could say, is heterogeneous (Rettberg, 2020) as a consequence of aspects that have already been described by notable researchers who have pointed out that there are many problems that this side of the continent has had to face. as a response to innumerable processes of social inequality and also policies that have created the conditions so that in this way delinquency, among other variants of violence, occurs with greater accentuation. Latin America as such, has dragged important events such as subversive movements of great importance, inequalities and events that have been neural in its historical, political and social conception for decades.
It is not surprising that during these years its inhabitants have had to face many scourges with determination, not only of an institutional nature, but also crimes that have left disastrous and bitter experiences in all areas. Just to mention that during the early years of the 1980s, there were many events that strongly marked the destiny of many Latin American nations and cities that have been the broth for various phenomena to settle, leaving in their wake notable consequences in the collective psyches, and of course in the configurations of the personality of individuals.
It is no secret to anyone that high crime rates are responses to much more complex phenomena than is thought. So you should start, and perhaps wonder about what makes an individual commit some kind of crime, extortion or fraud. What aspects intervene in someone reaching such situations and even attacking with the sole purpose of hurting or committing some type of crime.
One of the disciplines interested in the phenomenon not only of violence but of delinquency in general, is psychology, which for a few years has been interested in social issues not only to determine the traits that allow the development of crimes, but to be able to determine from the medical sciences, alternative solutions and study of the main phenomena that are currently creating disastrous experiences in the main cities of Latin America. The central interest of this book is to develop a study that allows evaluating and analyzing the psychological traits of the swindler, fraudster or the one who commits the crime of extortion. This type of criminal is of interest due to the traits that he usually has when he commits a crime, which is differentiated by the handling of situations, in addition, that this type of crime, the scammer acts with deception and persuasion. In general, the profile of this type of criminal is that he turns out to be an individual who does not present any type of indication in his constitution that makes him an object of suspicion. Rather, this subject usually has a normal appearance, in addition to handling speech among other characteristics that makes him go unnoticed, denoting a pleasant character that allows him to win not only the trust of his victims, but also fostering sympathy like never before perceived. in other people. On the other hand, this type of criminal shows a security trait showing great naturalness when exposing his deception arguments, being able to easily persuade and convince even the most knowledgeable and intelligent people.
Likewise, there is another type of criminal who is the blackmailer or extortionist whose main motive is manipulation. In general, this type of criminal usually handles information that will be revealed if his demands are not met. The blackmailer creates a manipulable scenario using fear as a resource so that his victim agrees to his requirements. The extortionist or blackmailer creates the conditions for the victim to fall into his game, therefore, a key aspect in the development of the crime is fear, so the victim, and being threatened, will agree to his traps or tricks

Although the study seeks to reveal the main aspects that allow the sui generis description of an offender, it is also important to emphasize studies from the psychological disciplines themselves to determine what mechanisms drive offender profiles. In addition to evaluating, what conditions allow the configuration of a mind not only fraudster, but extortionist or any criminal form. This among other aspects will be reviewed in this book.
